MEMBER SPECIFICATION

ATTRIBUTES ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE HOW IDENTIFIED
SKILLS Good communication and interpersonal skills at all levels. Ability to work constructively with competing interests. Proven ability to liaise with wider interests, media, government agencies. Map reading skills. Letter of application / interview.
KNOWLEDGE Knowledge of countryside issues, particularly in Cumbria outside of the National Parks. Interest in the interaction between recreation, land management, conservation and other interests. Knowledge of central or local government procedures, NGO's or similar organisations. Knowledge of access to the countryside. Letter of application / interview.
EXPERIENCE Detailed experience of at least one of the following: Recreation (eg. walking, riding, climbing or cycling), Land Management, Nature Conservation, Heritage, Tourism, Health, Business, Trade Union Interests, or Transport. Experience of dealing with and discussing strategic issues at a sub-regional (county) level. Experience of working in partnership / consensus and liaison with a variety of groups and interests. - Letter of application / interview.
PERSONAL COMPETENCIES Confidence, diplomacy and team working. Availability and willingness to attend meetings and training sessions in Cumbria. - Letter of application / interview.

CHAIRPERSON SPECIFICATION

Candidates who wish to be considered for the role of Chair of the Forum should meet the following requirements in addition to those listed for Forum members.
Candidates will be invited to address members of the Forum for up to 5 minutes, at the first meeting immediately before the election of the Chair.
